I beat hard mode, and insane didn't unlock

Postby Slampy on Sat Aug 15, 2009 6:28 pm

Hi there halfbrick, I love blast off, and I finally beat every mode up through hard ( mostly bronze on hard) and at the end of beating hard it said I finished all the levels and that only a crazy person (or something like that) would attempt insane mode. So I thought, awesome! I unlocked insane! Yeah, well insane is still grayed out and I can't access it :( Any ideas why?

Also while playing hard mode, the first level (mind the planet) had a bug, in that once I beat it the game crashed with a code 4 error or something. The same thing also happened on another level later on in hard which I can't remember the name of.

I badly want to play insane, so please let me know if you can help me out and get this mode unlocked. Thanks for the game!

Hey Slampy,

Glad you like the game, and congrats on beating hard mode!

This has happened to a few people and I believe this bug has something to do with the order in which you completed the levels...

We've been working hard on a number of improvements to Halfbrick Blast Off and an update should be available in about a week.

The update should fix this bug, improve stability and add more content and a more polished experience. (More music, refined levels etc.)

Unfortunately, because the game has changed so much, you'll lose your saved game, but i may be able to provide you with a code to unlock levels if you want to get straight into the insane levels.

Stay tuned and sorry about the inconvenience.

Thanks Matty,

I don't mind playing the game over again after the update, but it would be very nice to jump right into insane, since I already beat the others and I'd like to see just how insane this is. So if you do have codes for that, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise its not too big a deal.

Also, how will this update be available to those like myself who have already paid for and bought the game? Will it be supplied as a free game add-on in the XBLM?

Thanks for your info, and this game is awesome. Also I seriously love the music lol. It gets stuck in my head and is almost trance inducing.

It will be a free update, and yes, I've managed to get unlock codes put in. Many of the levels have been tweaked and changed, (and made a little easier overall), so I don't think you'll have any trouble getting up to insane, but if you really just want to dive in, send me a PM and I'll give you a code.

We've just submitted the new version, so it should be up within a week (pending approval).

Oh, and I agree with you on the music. Our music guy, Jesse, did a great job. In the new version, each difficulty level has its own music track (my favourite is the "hard" track) and in case you're interested, all of the music was inspired by my favourite band, Isis.

Sorry for the late reply.

I just now got around to downloading the update. I'm glad to play through it again, and I see many changes that were made, so I think it will be a fun experience to do this all over. So far I've only heard the new audio track for medium, but it is equally awesome. Oh, and damn you guys for adding that black hole, lol. At least I don't remember that being there before.

Isis, I know them and definitely hear the similarities. I can't wait to hear what the other two tracks sound like. The music also kind of reminds me of some later instrumental stuff from a band called Agalloch, although they are much different from Isis.

Anyway thanks again to the whole team for this great game, and the update. I'll let you know how awesome I think the other two tracks are once I get there, lol.

Agalloch!?!!?

Another one of my absolute favourite bands! You've got some good taste there, Slampy. The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain are such great albums. I really love the track Birch Black from The White EP too. Great band.

If you haven't heard the new Isis album, Wavering Radiant, definitely check it out. My favourite track on it is Ghost Key... man that song is cool.

oh man I'm sucking at checking this thread for your reply, lol.

Yeah, I love Agalloch, especially the Mantle. And when they release Ashes against the grain, I loved that style as well. The white EP has some awesome tracks, too. I like the folky mellow tunes they come up with. I actually had a chance to see Agalloch live in San Francisco a few years ago. That was just the coolest experience ever. They seem to rarely tour outside of their home state, let alone make their way over to Australia. That's where you guys are based, right?

I'll look into that Isis album. I've actually not heard much of Isis, I was just familiar with the name, and I know they are kind of like soft ambient doom, I think.

About the music from blast off, I think it's awesome how they have similar melodies or small bits from the original track. Ok, well take it easy and get back to me about any good band news, lol.
