Legitimate Research: Halfbrick Dev Update #1

Hi everyone!

The holidays are fast approaching and our teams are working around the clock to bring you some truly epic releases. But, while some teams are creating new content from scratch, others are focused on ensuring our existing games get the love and support they deserve. With that in mind, we'd like to tell you what we've been working on, the feedback we're hoping to address, and when these changes will be ready. Planned Change: Remove energy from Classic Dash

Release Window: Early December

Monster Dash is back, baby! We’ve added daily events, tougher monsters and a whole lot more, breathing new life into a game which was last updated in June, 2013. Despite that, it quickly became clear that existing owners were frustrated by the newly introduced energy mechanic. We've taken your feedback on board and I’m pleased to report that Classic Dash will no longer require energy when a new update is released early next month. This update is nearing the final stages of submission, and should be available within 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, we’ve raised the energy cap from 6 to 15 and improved the regen rate to speed up recovery. Hang in there!


Planned Change: Restore default Fruit Ninja theme

Release Window: Early-Mid December

Fruit Ninja Ghostbusters was a huge hit with both young and old players alike. Our teams were incredibly excited to work on such a cherished IP and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. That said, there was a small section of the community who found it difficult to distinguish between the purple ghost fruit and those pesky bombs. Well, being colour-blind myself, I totally feel your pain! We’ve heard your cries and can now confirm that the original colour scheme will be reinstated by mid-December. The Ghostbusters Blade and Dojo will remain in the game, but everything else (menus, soundtrack, et cetera) will be back for good.


Planned Change: Revise 3D art style

Release Window: Q1 2015

Barry and his infected brethren are now in 3D, allowing for much smoother movements, meatier action and graphical flexibility. Part of the Age of Zombies goal moving forward is to experiment with all aspects of the game and keep the content coming, and this upgrade to 3D will help the team achieve that. However, not everyone was pleased with the changes, and our artists have been looking at different ways to incorporate the original art style without adversely affecting the speed at which updates can be released. It’s a delicate balancing act, but we'll be able to give you a better sense of where we’re heading over the weeks and months ahead. Stay tuned!
